Technical sciences are based on physics. Understanding and devising technical solutions requires understanding the physical foundations of processes to such solutions. The link between physics and technics is lost when reducing thermodynamics and mechanics courses in programmes at technical faculties and neglecting technically applicable branches of physics in science and mathematics study programmes. This study programme trains experts to gain insight into all segments of the operation of complex devices and systems.
Students can enrol into the study programme after acquiring a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics or some other related study programme subject to passing possible bridging courses. The duration of the study programme is 4 semesters (2 academic years). Passing all exams and defending the graduate thesis leads to 120 ECTS credits and a master’s degree in Physics (mag. phys.).
Having successfully completed this study programme, and on the condition of passing possible bridging courses, students can enrol into some of the related postgraduate study programmes at universities in Croatia and the world.
The study programme trains experts to capable of applying modern scientific discoveries to practical problems relating to thermodynamic devices and mechanical systems. The choice of thermodynamic devices and mechanical systems, which are given special attention in the programme, is done according to industrial requirements in Dalmatia, primarily in regard to the cement and shipbuilding industries.
These types of experts can work in development laboratories in cement factories and in the shipbuilding industry, in institutes that apply physics in solving technical problems, establishing and running spin-off companies involved in businesses relating to thermodynamic devices.
