The graduate study programme Physics, specialisation in Computational Physics is conceived on the idea that students in compulsory courses acquire advanced knowledge from different branches of physics: elementary particle physics and nuclear physics, atomic and molecular physics and condensed matter physics.
Students can enrol into the study programme after acquiring a bachelor’s degree in Physics or some other related study programme, subject to passing the required bridging courses. The duration of the study programme is 4 semesters (2 academic years). Passing all exams and defending the graduate thesis leads to 120 ECTS credits and a master’s degree in Physics (mag. phys.).
Having successfully completed this study programme, and on the condition of passing the required bridging courses, students can enrol into one of the related postgraduate study programmes at universities in Croatia and the world.
A strong emphasis is placed on project work by students and the use of modelling to solve physical problems. An extensive range of elective courses gives students additional opportunities to receive ongoing training in various branches of physics, as well as in mathematics and programming.
This specialisation enables students to develop competences for employment and future professional development, not only in physics, but also in other industries that require a good understanding of modelling and ability to interpret the results (e.g., in the financial sector or in information technology areas).
