The undergraduate university study programme Mathematics and Physics is a double specialisation in which the programme supplements and complements the mathematics and physics courses.

The study programme covers 6 semesters (3 academic years). Passing all the exams and defending the final paper leads to 180 ECTS credits and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics (univ. bacc. math. et phys.).

The study programme allows ongoing education in the graduate university study programme Mathematics and Physics, including Physics, Engineering Physics or Physics and Computer science at the Faculty of Science in Split, as well as in other related study programmes in Croatia, the European Union and the world.

The teaching content and methods have been adapted to modern scientific discoveries and are based on all forms of active student participation. Students gain knowledge from the fundamental branches of mathematics, fundamental knowledge in physics, including fundamentals in informatics and computer science. They are taught abstract thinking, analytical and numerical problem solving, a critical approach to analysing literature, data and information, and are trained for autonomous learning.

This combination of courses, in addition to continuing studies at one of the education or other related graduate study programmes, enables holders of a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics to work in commercial laboratories, including the role of professional associates in scientific and higher education institutions, other institutions and companies in which an analytical approach to problem solving (IT, finance and the like) is sought.
