Pozivamo vas na 77. Fakultetski seminar 31. 10. 2025. u A1-1 u 12:00 na temu:
Nanomaterials for Sustainability and Healthcare Applications
koji će održati dr. Zhejian Cao sa Chalmers University of Technology iz Švedske.

Sažetak
Antimicrobial resistance is increasingly recognized as one of the world’s most urgent public health challenges. To address this, there is growing interest in novel materials with bactericidal mechanisms that go beyond chemical approaches. Mechano-bactericidal (MB) surfaces represent an emerging strategy, as they prevent bacterial biofilm formation through physical interactions. The fabrication of MB surfaces requires nanostructures with precisely controlled feature size and orientation. In our previous work, we explored various nanomaterials – including graphene and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) – as building blocks for MB surfaces. We believe these surfaces hold strong potential for anti-biofilm protection across multiple domains, including food packaging, maritime antifouling coatings, and the protection of medical implants and devices.

Kratki životopis
Dr. Zhejian Cao is a postdoctoral research fellow at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. His research focuses on material design and engineering for environmental and biomedical applications, with a particular emphasis on nanomaterials. He has published 20 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals such as Advanced Functional Materials and Advanced Science. Dr. Cao has secured research grants exceeding €300,000 and actively contributes as a peer reviewer for journals and funding agencies. He was invited as an “observer” at the Nobel Symposium 2023 and as a speaker at the MOF Global Seminar 2025, organized by Professor Omar Yaghi’s group at UC Berkeley.
